Sort is the center of the valley. It has a river outside the town, called "Noguera Pallaresa. The valley was a short time ago a long full of walnut tree which means NOGUERA, and Pallars Sobirà mean upper Pallars region.

Pallars Sobirà is the full name of the region we are placed over the 700m to 2,500 m. on the sea with an area of 105 km2. 3500 people are living here permanently. 

These people live in many small villages all around the valley. Along the valley you'll find plenty of Gothic buildings (S. XV), and the walls of the castle of the former residence of the Counts of pallars. You will also see the presence of hand crafted products: cheese, cakes, and sausages in the country. 

Pallaressa Noguera is the river that flows through the city. The Pallaresa Noguera River is the best wild river water in Europe.  This River is used in international canoeing competitions, which are well recognized as a bellwether of the best competitions in the world of wild water. 

From our people 

You will have access to sport activities and rural tourism in Lleida, such as rafting, climbing, hiking, etc.., and access to the ski resorts. 
In our Valley we have these ski stations:
- Port, aine 20 min
- Espot 20 min
- Baqueira Beret 22 min, which is the best alpine ski station in Spain. Placed over 2500 m above sea level. 

The weekly market is quite noticeable and is every Tuesday. It brings together artisans and farmers in the village. 

On June 24 we got the event of bringing the fire down from the mountain top to the village. The people of the village walk carrying a burning torch into the darkness of the foot of the mountains, and all together make a wonderful scenery, full of light and color. 

Once they reach the village the crowd have a popular dinner together.
